Hi, my name is Emily! I am in my last year of undergrad, class of 2020. At my university, I am a History and Spanish major with a minor in Education. I have two campus jobs working as an English Language Peer Tutor and History Department Assistant, and in my hometown, I work at a museum. I have a deep interest in the Spanish language and culture and Latin American History. I have had the opportunity to travel abroad twice to Latin America with two different programs. Again, the purpose of this site is to share my experiences with friends, family, prospective students, and anyone else who is interested. This is not a professional travel blog and I have no plans to quit my job and make travel my lifestyle to become a professional blogger; this is for educational purposes only.

My first experience abroad was in 2018 with the Cultural Vistas Fellowship program in which I interned for a summer in Buenos Aires, Argentina with Brincar and Caritas. Brincar por un autismo feliz is an NGO that advocates for individuals with autism and the education of Autism through a variety of programs. Caritas is a social service organization where I worked at one of the after-school programs with at-risk students, principally as an English tutor. I lived in a house located in the beautiful Palermo Soho neighborhood with the four other fellows in the cohort. Aside from Buenos Aires, I visited:
- Iguazu Falls (see the video!)
My second experience abroad was in 2019 with the School for International Training (SIT) program “Chile: Comparative Education and Social Change” in which I spent a semester studying the education system in Chile. I lived with a homestay family, took classes at a local university, visited schools, received the opportunity to teach, went on excursions with the program, and completed an Independent Study Project. While the program was principally based in Santiago, other places I visited in Chile included:

- Algarrobo
- Valparaíso
- Viña del mar
- Temuco (rural homestay in Padres Las Casas)
- Chillán (I stayed in Coihueco and visited San Fabián de Alico).
*some excursions took place with the program.
See the page “Programs” for more information on these two amazing opportunities!
My site may seem a little scant, but I created this site after I came home from abroad. I highly recommend to enjoy the moment!
